Morris Rossabi teaches Chinese, Central Asian, and Mongolian History at Columbia University and the City University.  Author of Khubilai Khan, China and Inner Asia, Modern Mongolia, Voyager from Xanadu. The Mongols: A Very Short IntroductionA History of China, and other books, he  has written the chapters on China and Inner Asia for three volumes of the Cambridge History of China  and has participated in major exhibitions of Chinese and Mongolian art at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and the Cleveland Museum of Art.  Awarded grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, the American Council of Learned Societies, and the Smith Richardson Foundation, he also received an honorary Doctorate from the State University of Mongolia.  He was appointed to the Board on Central Eurasia and then as Chair of the Arts and Council Board of the Soros Foundations.  He was born and spent his childhood in Alexandria, Egypt and now resides in New York city.
