Edwin Jurriëns

Dr Edwin Jurriëns is Convenor of Asian Studies and Lecturer in Indonesian Studies at the Asia Institute, Faculty of Arts, The University of Melbourne. He is also Visiting Fellow at the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, The University of New South Wales, Canberra. His teaching, research and engagement activities focus on contemporary art, the media and popular culture in Asia, particularly Indonesia.

He is author of From Monologue to Dialogue: Radio and Reform in Indonesia (KITLV Press, 2009) and Cultural Travel and Migrancy: The Artistic Representation of Globalization in the Electronic Media of West Java (KITLV Press, 2004), and co-editor of Disaster Relief in the Asia-Pacific: Agency and Resilience (Routledge, 2014) and Cosmopatriots: On Distant Belongings and Close Encounters (Rodopi, 2007). He also is co-editor of the Asian Visual Cultures book series of Amsterdam University Press, and member of the editorial boards of Antropologi Indonesia (Indonesian Journal of Social and Cultural Anthropology) and the International Journal of Indonesian Studies.
