Born and raised in Shanghai, Chen Yun studied Journalism at Fudan University and got her MPhil degree in Communication at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. After working for two years at Ullens Center for Contemporary Art (Beijing) as assistant curator for art and education programs, she came back to Shanghai in 2009. She has been working as project manager and researcher for West Heavens (westheavens.net) since March 2010 when the project was established by Johnson Chang, Gao Shiming and Kuan-Hsing Chen. As an integrated cross-cultrual exchange program, West Heavens has organized more than 100 events including forums, exhibitions, film screenings and workshops, as well as publishing more than 10 books. Her research based exhibition proposal of Dinghai Qiao: Art Practice into History was awarded First PSA Emerging Curators Prize, and realized in Power Station of Art October 2014 – March 2015 in Shanghai.
